Private Music Streaming for Pro DJs

DJcloud is primarily targeted at those who already have and maintain a collection of music files (professional DJs are a common example) and wish to access the collection conveniently, possibly remotely and on any device, similarly to public streaming services. In other words, they wish to run their own private Spotify-like service using their own content, for their own benefit and possibly also for that of their team and/or family.

This is somewhat akin to running your own Nextcloud service instead of using Dropbox or another big cloud drive provider. There are numerous reasons why one may wish to do this such as privacy, trust, security, control, features, persistence of content and so on, and there is clearly great and growing interest.

DJcloud streams the music you already own and have legally licensed in your DJ library, including all of the artists (and remixes/versions) that choose not to be present on public streaming platforms. You always have full control and nothing can disappear overnight due to a licensing deal or falling out. There are also quality, mixing, audio processing and functionality differences.

Yes! The web app is built efficiently with WebAssembly and works on iOS, iPadOS and Android browsers, among others. Native apps are coming soon. Ots Labs has invested a great deal of resources into bringing its code bases to modern technologies and platforms, while preserving the light and nimble, bloat-free efficiencies that we are acclaimed for.

Simultaneous streams is the number of user sessions that your service can handle at the same time. This is important as this is the main constraint in bandwidth, processing and resource usage. If you have an 'x6' access pass, then 6 different users (or 6 sessions in total if some are the same user) may simultaneously access the service.

If more users (or user sessions) attempt to access your service at the same time than what your access token allows for, an appropriate message will be displayed. In no case will you be charged overages—this is not a subscription service and we do not retain your billing information.

No. Only the users you define and provide access to may use the service, and only to the extent (subset of your media library) that you allow.

Absolutely not! No media is copied or transferred from your machine, other than to stream on demand to a user you have defined in your configuration, to the extent of the permissions you have allowed. Your music, media and data is private to you and access is only provided where explicitly allowed by you.

Ots Labs is in the final stages of bringing the service live (sometime in the northern hemisphere Spring) and gauging the true level of interest (and from which regions) at this point helps us make better infrastructure decisions with regards to our server network, bandwidth costs, etc. In return for this, we are able to offer phenomenal discounts at this early stage and for a limited time only with savings exceeding 50%.

All access tokens purchased will not count as being used (ie. the access period will not begin ticking) until the DJcloud service is live and the token is initialized and bound to a user's service. Yes! Tokens are not tied to the purchaser nor to the date/time when they are purchased. You can purchase as many tokens as you like and gift them or use them yourself when your current access has expired or on another system you control.

DJcloud is currently not a subscription service and you will not be billed automatically. You are always in control of whatever access you decide to purchase. If Ots Labs ever decides to offer further options such as subscriptions, you would be well advised and this would be opt-in—not automatic.

OtsAV is DJ (and radio/TV) media playout software first released in 1999 and is highly acclaimed and used by many thousands around the world for all kinds of purposes. DJcloud utilizes OtsAV as the basis for the media library that is provisioned for access. If you or someone you know is interested in DJcloud but not yet familiar with OtsAV, purchasing one of the OtsAV DJ products would be the starting point (the OtsAV Radio and OtsAV TV line will also work perfectly with DJcloud, if this is more appropriate to your overall needs).

You do not need to be an expert in OtsAV or use it to play your media in order for it to function as host for DJcloud. You simply need to build and manage the media library and have it running so it can serve requests.

DJcloud is a new service by Ots Labs and it therefore makes sense to initially focus on the myriad of OtsAV users who already have curated music libraries perfect for DJcloud. At this time DJcloud requires OtsAV, however, of course we will continue to evaluate all possibilities.

There are many solutions that facilitate accessing your media from another location. Whether it be document files, images, MP3s or whatever. There are very few solutions, however, that focus on music and have the pedigree and history of Ots Labs to ensure a quality of service that does proper justice to your audio. Ots Labs customers understand this and we welcome you to discover this too!

DJcloud directly supports any file type supported by OtsAV itself, which currently means Ots Media files, MP3s and PCM Wave files. If a file is imported to and playable within OtsAV, then it may be used with DJcloud. Of course any other file type may also be used within OtsAV (and hence DJcloud) simply by converting to an Ots file first, which may be done using Ots Studio.

At this time DJcloud is an audio-only service, however, given the fact that OtsAV and Ots Media files support video/karaoke and have done for 20 years now, it's entirely possible that DJcloud will offer this in future upon sufficient interest from customers.

Please note that you absolutely can stream the audio contained in any Ots Media video files. In this manner you may still access all of your video files—regardless of explicit video support. This is a benefit of the Ots file architecture and DJcloud leverages this.
